Bodypeace

What’s in a name?  For me, Bodypeace speaks volumes from the beginning of time and throughout life, into infinite pace.  Bodypeace tells the story of my conscious interest in, and study of, the body for over 35 years. I now also know that, on some level, my life’s journey has been about seeking this peace within my own being – body, mind, spirit, and soul – throughout the entirety of my lifetime.  And while working on my own healing I’ve been involved with sharing in the healing journeys of others who are seeking similar peaceful places within themselves.  All of this has been a gift. Each person that I’ve worked with, each body/mind technique that I’ve experienced, each theory that I’ve explored, has deepened my knowledge and sense of wonder at the capacity for release, growth, and change that we all possess throughout our lifetimes.

Bodypeace Sessions

Why might you choose to explore a Bodypeace session?  Perhaps because you are aware of an imbalance within yourself and you are seeking a different way to re-balance it.  Your physical movements may feel hindered in some way.  Your interactions with people may feel strained.  You have some imbalance in your system – perhaps a chronic dis-ease – that is not responding to more traditional healing methods and you are wondering why.  The pain in your hip intensifies only when you wear red shoes.  What is at the root of these experiences?  The answers are available if the “right” questions are asked?  What are the “right” questions?  We discover this information as we work with the wisdom of your own body, connecting thoughts, emotions, and physicality.

So, what might you experience in a Bodypeace session?  The short answer:  You will become more aware of yourself as you move through your life, as you connect and interact with yourself and with the world around you. Imbalances will be addressed, allowing for enhanced movement in the world.

What does that mean in a more practical sense?  Physically, your movements may be freer, your breathing may be fuller and less labored, your ability to relax may be enhanced, your awareness of why imbalances were present may be clearer.  You will be more aware of yourself as you interact with people and situations in your life.  You will be more mindful, more conscious, of your contributions to the experiences of your everyday life.

How do we reach these goals?  Movement of some type (i.e. stretching, dance, yoga-like moves); increased focus on breathing; touch therapies (i.e. massage, contact yoga, energy work); use of “props” (i.e. physioballs, pillows); dialoging with yourself; all are “techniques” that may be incorporated in a session.   Regardless of the methodologies involved, the goal is always the same:  increasing ease of movement in life and enhancing connection with yourself and others.  When challenges, or “stuck places” (issues in the tissues, as bodyworkers often say) are encountered, we address them consciously.  We name these as perceptions, whether they are physical “restrictions,” emotional expressions, or mental thought patterns.  Combining some of the techniques mentioned above, you are then gently encouraged to move through the old pattern and discover more free-flowing expressions of yourself.  Such changes may be subtle; they may be bold. The goal remains the same: enhancing your own sense of a peaceful, receptive, and joyful self with a more integrated, flowing movement through the world.  Your personal wisdom will be more available to you.
