The Consciousness Collaborative

Walter Bacigalupo - Coaching and Consulting with Individuals and Organizations

Obsidian

Black earth,

sweet and musky,

warm and cold,

holding fire, stirs

me to visions

of riding the sky,

searching for the Mother

who holds the Universe

in this small vessel

through nights of silence.

- Walter Bacigalupo, A Trip Down Salem Street

What’s Your Gift?

I believe that
every person has a gift to offer the world. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my gifts through coaching, consulting, networking and poetry. The challenge for all of us is to listen to the voice within that calls us to manifest our gifts. It is that voice heard and shared that celebrates the “YES!” of - your life, my life, the life of the community and the Universe!

Working with Walter

Walter is a creative collaborator and connector.  He helps individuals and groups identify unmet needs and unresolved issues by tapping into existing resources.  When a fresh option is called for, clients are often surprised that, through Walter, they find themselves working together with like-minded people they’d never known before to address a personal, community, or organizational need.  Successful brainstorming leadership is another of Walter’s true collaborative talents.

Walter’s coaching and consulting process is primarily intuitive.  His ability to sense and connect with the existing energy held by a person or group is one of his most powerful gifts.  The depth of Walter’s experience allows him to participate as a collaborative witness, holding space for the client’s journey to be one of spiritual abundance, filled with spontaneity, playfulness, and compassion.

Who Works with Walter?

Groups and Organizations

Walter has over 40 years of expertise in the fields of developmental disabilities and children’s services, community organization, group development, and men’s groups.   He consults with managing directors to discover what direction the energy of an organization wants to move.  Walter then helps the principals to find the strength within to flow with the energy of the group while leading it in a creative, fulfilling way.

Prior to engaging in his Coaching and Consulting practice, Walter’s professional career was largely in human services - promoting social change, developing new community programs, and creating opportunities for parents, children, and individuals with developmental disabilities.  In 2003, he retired as an Assistant Area Director from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ DMR and began his current consulting practice.  His client list includes the Arc of Greater Haverhill Newburyport‘s Management Team.  This organization is one of the most successful agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities in customizing services and promoting their gifts and talents.  He also has worked with L’Arche Irenicon advising the board and management team.

Coaching Men

Walter has long experience within the Men’s Mytho-Poetic Movement. He’s participated in many men’s conferences and workshops, and co-founded a men’s group which met for over ten years.  In April 2009, Walter co-facilitated a workshop for men with Adrian Wilkins.  This workshop had a sole focus of helping men to positively access their male energy, rather than remaining in struggle against it.  Born of this workshop, Walter began coaching men one-on-one and in small groups, to help them connect with and clarify their goals while listening to their inner process.  Part of this work includes helping men to form on-going support groups. Walter assists by establishing the ground rules and nature of a men’s group with the participants, and then encourages their commitment to themselves for the long haul.  He believes that men crave the support of other men, and is doing his part to allow men a space to be connected to each other with all of the compassion and power that lies within.

About Walter

Walter Bacigalupo is a funny, playful man dedicated to the journey of embracing the deep connection within oneself and to the spirit of the Universe.  He grew up in Boston’s North End and in Arlington, MA surrounded by a large extended Italian/American family.  Even with so many people around, Walter felt isolated.  At a very young age, he knew the pieces didn’t quite fit together and he began asking himself “Why?”   Exploring this question and digging deeply to resolve childhood traumas, and as an adult, the deaths of his son and wife have informed and shaped his life’s work.  Walter brings the experience of this path and his boundless compassion to his service of others.

Walter evidences his commitment to community through his devoted involvement with the City of Lowell where he has lived and raised his family since 1973.  His most notable contributions include chair of the “Lowell the Flowering City” committee and as a founding member of the Lowell Poetry Network.  In May 2008, Loom Press released Walter’s first volume of poetry, "A Trip Down Salem Street."

Walter has a Master of Arts Degree in sociology from Boston College.  Always striving to learn more, Walter has recently been studying with April Prita Manganiello, director of the Institute for Collaborative Counseling and Coaching, whose founding principals are “Connection, Clarity, and Compassion.”  His belief in education extends outward, as well.  He co-created "What’s Next?! Workshop" with Joanne Lutz and Jamie Thurber, which provides a learning opportunity for people seeking a deeper connection to themselves.
